The Historic Voyage that Sparked Today’s Solar Exploration
After the groundbreaking solar circumnavigation by PlanetSolar’s catamaran in 2012, a new dream began to take flight. Visionary eco-explorer Raphaël Domjan imagined pushing solar innovation from sea to sky.
By 2015, this vision took shape as the SolarStratos mission—a bold effort to send a solar-powered aircraft to the edge of space.
What began as a personal ambition quickly evolved into a collective movement, made possible by a growing community of backers. From private supporters and technology partners to established sponsors like Longines, Banque Bordier (Geneva), and Bitcoin Suisse SA, the project has gained powerful momentum—fueled by the shared belief that clean aviation is the future.
