Guinness World Record

The highest altitude ever reached in an electric truck stands at a staggering 6,490 metres (21,296 feet 7 inches).

This world record was set on December 3, 2023, by David Koller, Patrik Koller, and David Proeschel of Switzerland, as they drove their self-built electric off-road truck up the mighty Ojos del Salado on the Chile–Argentina border.

They did it.

Three young visionaries—engineers, tinkerers, pioneers—set out to build an electric off-road truck that could climb higher than any land vehicle had ever gone before. And they pulled it off.

We were there with them. As the film team behind this journey, we captured every step: the welding sparks in the workshop, the silent tension before the first high-altitude test, the grinding tires on volcanic rock at 6,000 metres.
Our cameras rolled—sometimes shaking from the cold, sometimes from the emotion.

This is their story.

Their sleepless nights in thin air.
Their hands, stiff from cold and cracked by altitude, reached deep into the heart of their homemade electric engine, fixing what no mechanic could,
in a place no garage would reach.
Their grit, their vision, their engineering courage.

And yet, without the full crew, this mission wouldn’t have looked the same.

It was a team effort in the truest sense:
three pioneers behind the wheel, and a film team behind the lens.

Together, we climbed.
We carried gear, built solar panels, shovelled snow, and flew drones in 100 km/h winds.

We filmed, yes—but we also froze, sweated, and pushed on—side by side.

CHASING THE PEAK – The Mission

With Peak Evolution, three Swiss pioneers from DDP INNOVATION set a historic Guinness World Record: they drove a 100% solar-powered prototype utility vehicle higher than any land vehicle before – up the 6,893-meter volcano Ojos del Salado in Chile.

What began as a vision for clean, off-grid mobility for agriculture and ski resorts became a reality through sheer innovation, determination, and pioneering spirit.

The project showcased the potential of e-powered trucks combined with mobile solar charging units, proving that sustainable technology can perform under the world’s toughest conditions.
